The beautiful tree lined Thamalakane River, which snakes along an ancient fault line in the earth’s crust, defines the southern edge of the Okavango Delta.
Based from the intimate, luxurious tented Thamo Telele within a private wildlife reserve, the Thamalakane River Ride is delightful not only for competent riders, but also for those with little or no riding experience, and is a firm favourite with families.
A large variety of wildlife roams the reserve, including giraffe, zebra, kudu, eland, gemsbok, springbok, impala and ostrich, all of which are easily approached on horseback.
In addition to overnight stays, daily riding is available to anyone passing through Maun. These rides can be from one hour to all day rides with a picnic lunch. Riding lessons may also be arranged on request.
